What is a bounce?

A soft bounce means the email was valid and the email reached the recipients mail server but it was bounced due to the mailbox being full, the server being down or the message was too large.

A hard bounce occurs when the message is permanently rejected because the email address is either invalid or the email address doesn't exist.
